John Wall not happy at exclusion from All-NBA team: ‘I got snaked twice’

John Wall Wizards

John Wall thinks he doesn’t get enough respect around the league, and he is using the All-NBA voting as evidence of that.

Wall was excluded from all three All-NBA teams in both 2015 and 2016, and he has a big problem with that.

“I’m pissed the last two years about that,” Wall said Thursday, via J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic. “I got snaked twice.”

Wall received just seven points in All-NBA voting in 2016. Beyond the obvious choices such as Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, and Damian Lillard, Wall lost out to Kyle Lowry for a spot.

Wall played very well, averaging a double-double in 2016 and helping his team to the playoffs in 2015. However, he’s unfortunate to play at an absolutely loaded position. Curry and Westbrook are basically guaranteed a third of the spots, and you also have the likes of Lillard and Chris Paul who are going to be in the conversation. Then you have guys like Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving who have made it the last two years and, in Irving’s case, is elite when healthy. Wall is great, but it’s not as if he’s getting blatantly shafted in favor of lesser players.

Of course, Wall has a disrespect narrative going, and you need only see his reaction to initial All-Star voting to see it. He has a point to an extent, but the NBA is flooded with quality guards these days.
