Tom Brady’s sister Nancy writes cool tweet after NFC Championship win

Tom Brady Bucs

One of Tom Brady’s sisters wrote a cool tweet on Sunday after her brother led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Super Bowl.

Nancy Brady doesn’t tweet very often. But she called her brother “cold blooded” for pulling off a road win at Green Bay to send his team to the Super Bowl. Nancy also seems to have a larger prediction about what is coming, saying “he wants it all.”

Would Tom have enough magic left in him to win another Super Bowl? Just getting the 11-5 Bucs to the Super Bowl is a heck of a feat. This will be his 10th time playing in the Super Bowl. He will be looking for his seventh career Super Bowl win. But Nancy and many others may think that Tom is bound to get it.

Carlton Davis had strong response to critical tweets from Michael Thomas

Michael Thomas

Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back Carlton Davis has no time for Michael Thomas’ trash talk.

Davis mocked Thomas as “slant boy” after Thomas failed to make a catch in the New Orleans Saints’ loss to the Buccaneers in the NFC Divisional round. That clearly bothered the Saints wide receiver, who decided to get back at Davis after the cornerback was beaten for a touchdown by Green Bay’s Davante Adams.

Davis was absolutely not having it. After the Buccaneers beat the Packers, he used social media to fire back at Thomas.

“I bodied you 3 games in a row lil dude in cover 1 goofball ! And ima dawg yo lil a– again next year so you better work on them routes !” Davis wrote (tweet edited by LBS for profanity).

Thomas only had eight catches for 68 yards against the Buccaneers in three games this year. Davis is right. Thomas probably shouldn’t get in on the trolling coming off an outing like that.

Bulls rookie says LeBron James was calling out their plays ahead of time

LeBron James

LeBron James’ dazzling basketball mind was on display again this weekend.

James and the Los Angeles Lakers cruised to a 101-90 win over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday. After the game, Bulls rookie Patrick Williams said that the four-time MVP was calling out some of their plays ahead of time.

“You can tell he watches a lot of film,” Williams said of James, per Cody Westerlund of 670 The Score.

James, who recently turned 36, is now in his 18th NBA campaign. It is clear though that his work ethic has not waned at all, especially with his averages of 23.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game this season.

In fact, James has even pulled the same tricks in the playoffs against more experienced teams. He is a player who always thinks two steps ahead of his opponent, and that helps make up for whatever athleticism (albeit very little) that James has lost with age.

Aaron Rodgers casts doubt on future with Packers after NFC Championship loss

Aaron Rodgers

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers raised eyebrows in terms of both what he said and how he said it after Sunday’s NFC Championship loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Rodgers admitted his future was uncertain after Sunday’s loss, suggesting that he may not be leaning toward returning to Green Bay — or that the Packers might be ready to move on from him.

Multiple media members on the Zoom call took note of Rodgers’ tone as well. ESPN Wisconsin’s Jason Wilde, who has covered Rodgers for the quarterback’s entire career, said it sounded like a goodbye.

Matt Schneidman of The Athletic added that Rodgers is very careful with his words, and it was clear that the quarterback was uncertain about his future.

For whatever it’s worth, Packers coach Matt LaFleur said he “sure as hell hope(d)” Rodgers would return to the Packers for 2021.

Rodgers has three years remaining on his contract and no intention of retiring. He does likely have leverage if he wants to use it coming off one of his best seasons. The Packers drafted Rodgers’ heir apparent in Jordan Love in the 2020 draft, which immensely bothered Rodgers as well. It certainly sounds like he’s going to at least consider moving on in the aftermath of all this.

Bill Belichick gets meme treatment after Tom Brady reaches Super Bowl

Bill Belichick meme

For now, the winner of the divorce between Bill Belichick and Tom Brady is Brady.

Belichick’s New England Patriots went 7-9 this season and missed the playoffs. Brady went 11-5 with the Bucs and now has Tampa Bay in the Super Bowl.

Many wondered what Belichick was thinking to see his former quarterback make it to the Super Bowl in the first season after their split. The jokes online all had the same consensus: they made Belichick about to be a grump. Many of the memes involved Belichick as Bernie Sanders.

Would we ever know exactly how Belichick feels about Brady reaching the Super Bowl? Probably not. If you were to ask him, he’d say something like “Tom is a great player. But our focus is on the 2021 season.”

You’re not going to get much from him. As for Brady, he’s not taking shots at New England either.

Matt LaFleur explains his awful decision to kick field goal

Matt LaFleur

Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur explained his questionable decision to kick a field goal instead of going for a potential game-tying touchdown with just over two minutes left in the team’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

With the Packers down 31-23 and facing 4th and goal from the Tampa Bay 8-yard line, LaFleur opted to kick and hope the defense could get Aaron Rodgers the ball back with three timeouts remaining. That didn’t happen, as the Buccaneers were able to get a first down and run out the clock.

LaFleur said several things factored into his decision, including the fact that the Packers had thrown three consecutive incompletions, the need for a two-point conversion on top of the touchdown, and the fact that the two-minute warning would function like a fourth timeout.

The fact of the matter is the Packers needed eight points and had the ball at the 8-yard line. LaFleur essentially thought it was more likely that his defense could stop the Buccaneers and his offense could quickly move the ball downfield for another touchdown. That seems like a bad bet. Plus, LaFleur has one of the game’s best quarterbacks in Rodgers, and nobody would have blamed him for putting the ball in Rodgers’ hands and telling him to go make a play.

Rodgers didn’t criticize the decision, but he definitely didn’t seem thrilled with it either. LaFleur can explain as much as he wants, but few are going to be with him on this.

Aaron Rodgers addresses Packers’ decision to kick field goal

Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers chose not to put the ball in Aaron Rodgers’ hands in the biggest moment of Sunday’s NFC Championship loss, and he had an interesting reaction to that decision after the game.

Trailing 31-23 with 2:05 left in the fourth quarter, the Packers opted to kick a field goal from the Buccaneers’ 8-yard line. The Packers hoped they could stop Tampa Bay with all three timeouts remining, but the Bucs were able to get a first down to run out the clock.

Most were stunned that the Packers didn’t give Rodgers the chance to go for a touchdown and a two-point conversion that would have tied the game. Asked about the decision after the game, the Green Bay quarterback simply said he understood the decision, but it wasn’t his to make.

Rodgers sounds crushed, as he should. It’s hard to believe he didn’t at least try to talk coach Matt LaFleur into going for it. The contrast is particularly stark when you see how much influence Rodgers’ counterpart in the game had over his team’s decision-making.

Rodgers went 33/48 in the loss, throwing for 346 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. The defeat dropped him to 1-4 in NFC Championship games in his career.

Shaq Barrett had funny comment about Packers’ terrible field goal decision

Shaq Barrett

The Green Bay Packers stunned many by kicking a field goal on 4th and goal down 8 late in their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That includes the Buccaneers themselves.

Tampa Bay defensive lineman Shaq Barrett admitted that he was stunned by the Packers’ decision to kick, and even thanked them for doing it and giving the ball back to the Buccaneer offense to run out the clock.

The field goal decision is going to be the subject of heated debate for some time to come. Giving the ball back to Tom Brady and the Buccaneers down 5 with the knowledge that one first down would seal the game never made much sense. Barrett knew that as well as anyone.

The Packers made a lot of really bizarre decisions that contributed to their defeat. Barrett would probably thank them for that, too.

Bucs LB Shaq Barrett says Aaron Rodgers held the ball too long

Shaq Barrett

Shaq Barrett was a terror to Aaron Rodgers in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, and he thinks he knows why.

Barrett had five tackles, three sacks, and four quarterback hits in his Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 31-26 win over the Green Bay Packers in the conference championship game. He was interviewed by FOX after the game and offered an explanation for how he was able to get to Rodgers.

“We knew we could affect the game because Aaron Rodgers gives us a chance to get to him. He holds the ball, he wants to make the big play. We took advantage of the opportunities. It might look easy, but it’s not easy! A lot of work goes into it, for sure,” Barrett said.

Despite the sacks, Rodgers still had nice stats in the game. He went 33/48 for 346 yards and three touchdown passes, though he turned the ball over twice.

Ultimately, the Packers made a terrible decision to kick a field goal late, and it cost them.

This is Barrett’s second season with the Bucs, and he’s already headed to a Super Bowl, for a chance to win his second.

Tom Brady hugs son Jack after sending Bucs to Super Bowl

Tom Brady son Jack

Tom Brady helped lead his Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Super Bowl with a win at Green Bay on Sunday, and he couldn’t wait to celebrate with his family.

Brady walked over to the edge of the field at Lambeau Field. He yelled out for his son, Jack, and asked a security worker whether he could see his son Jack.

Jack, who was all bundled up for the cold, came down and got to share a hug with his father.

Jack is 13 and Brady’s oldest son. His mother is Bridget Moynahan. Jack is a big football fan and probably loved getting to make the trip to Green Bay to see his dad send his team to the Super Bowl. It’s unclear whether Brady’s younger son, Benny, made the trip.

Brady now heads to his 10th career Super Bowl, with a chance to win his 7th. The debate about the best quarterback ever ended years ago, and Brady is just now putting even more distance between him and everyone else.
