Selena Gomez does Thanksgiving halftime show, puts guy to sleep (Video)

Selena Gomez performed at halftime of the Dallas Cowboys-Oakland Raiders game on Thanksgiving, leading some to wonder why the Thanksgiving game necessitated a musical act like the Super Bowl.

Those questions aside, Gomez, the 21-year-old former girlfriend of Justin Bieber, performed a few songs from her new album, including “Come and Get it.”

Though Gomez seemed to be a pretty neutral act that could please most demographics, one guy wasn’t too enthralled by her performance. Check out this dude catching a snooze as Selena was performing her halftime act:

Must have been a long day for that fellow.

Jon Bon Jovi wants to be NFL owner, focused on Buffalo Bills

Jon Bon JoviRock star Jon Bon Jovi has aspirations of being an NFL owner and is particularly focused on the Buffalo Bills, according to a report.

CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported on Sunday that Bon Jovi is “consumed with purchasing an NFL team” and that he is positioning himself to bid for the Bills when that team becomes available. Bills owner Ralph Wilson is 95 years old, so the thinking is that could be the next team to become available.

La Canfora says Bon Jovi has spent time in Buffalo getting to know the movers and shakers in the area and even added a tour date there. He supposedly is so cost-conscious as he prepares for a bid that his dismissal of guitarist Richie Sambora is said to be related to his eventual pursuit of an NFL team.

Bon Jovi is well connected and has a strong relationship with New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, among other NFL players. He led a group that brought Philadelphia the Soul — an Arena team now headed by Ron Jaworski. Bon Jovi also nearly became a minority owner of the Atlanta Falcons in the past, but he wants to be a majority owner now.

If Bon Jovi does make a play for the Bills when they become available, he’ll likely face tough competition from Rogers Communications, which owns the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto already has a relationship with the Bills. In 2008, the Bills began playing home games at the Rogers Centre in Toronto once a season.

La Canfora also presents the possibility that Bon Jovi could partner with Tim Leiweke, formerly of AEG, and now with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, in a pursuit of the Bills.

The possibility of Bon Jovi being an NFL owner is certainly an interesting one, but I wonder what Ralph Wilson thinks of everyone talking about buying his team before he’s even kicked the bucket.

James Dolan reportedly banned Woody Allen from MSG VIP lounge

Woody AllenWoody Allen is no longer allowed inside a VIP suite in Madison Square Garden after declining a request to do some promotional work for MSG Network, according to a report.

The four-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker, whose love affair with New York and the Knicks has been expressed throughout his movie career, has been a regular at “Suite 200″, which is the name of the VIP lounge celebrities hang out in before and during halftime of games. But the New York Post says Allen is no longer welcome in there after declining to do promotion for MSG Network or the Garden of Dreams Foundation.

The Post says MSG bought the rights to some of Allen’s movies and asked him to do some specials for them where he would talk about the movies or introduce them.

“Woody said he would not be comfortable doing that,” The Post quoted a source as saying. “He has never done that for any show or network. They then said that this was a ‘reciprocal arrangement’ and that if Woody couldn’t go on TV for them, he should not eat in their VIP restaurant anymore. Woody said fine and thanked them for the many years he had enjoyed the space there.”

Is anyone really surprised by this? Dolan is the same guy who has his head coach followed and who told his dance team to stop dancing because they were losing. He sounds like a real charmer.

I’d love to see Woody weave this storyline into one of his next movies, but I doubt he will. You know Larry David absolutely would if that happened to him.

Jay-Z and Beyonce sit in Kevin Durant’s courtside seats

Jay-Z Beyonce basketballKevin Durant’s got friends and business partners in high places.

There was a buzz going around on Thursday that Jay-Z and Beyonce would be in attendance for the Oklahoma City Thunder’s nationally-televised game against the Los Angeles Clippers. That turned out to be accurate.

Royce Young of DailyThunder.com added another detail to the story — the power couple were sitting in KD’s courtside seats — and he supplied the photo:

Durant in June joined Jay-Z’s Roc Nation sports agency and became the rapper’s most high-profile client. There haven’t been many business moves since Jay-Z’s repped Durant that we know of, aside from KD’s Gatorade deal expiring. But we do know that the Thunder star has a lot of pull since he has HOV and Beyonce coming to his games.

Hit song ‘Royals’ may have been inspired by George Brett

George-Brett-Hall-of-Fame-SteroidsLast month, some St. Louis Cardinals fans created a version of Lorde’s hit song “Royals” that changed the words around to create a baseball parody. Lorde, who was born in New Zealand, is obviously singing about “Royals” in the political sense, right? Yes, but that doesn’t mean baseball had nothing to do with it.

As Lisa Gutierrez of the Kansas City Star pointed out, Lorde recently revealed in an interview with VH1 that an image of a Kansas City Royals player inspired her to write a song called “Royals.”

There’s no denying the fact that ‘Royals’ has seized the zeitgeist. And speaking of that track, Lorde herself recently spoke to us about how the song was inspired in part with her obsession with historic monarchs and, strangely enough, by an image of a baseball player wearing a Kansas City Royals jersey in National Geographic.

In that interview, Lorde explained how she “had this image from the National Geographic of this dude just signing baseballs. He was a baseball player and his shirt said, ‘Royals.’

‘It was just that word. It’s really cool.’”

Hardball Talk reader @LBTross did some digging and discovered that the photo Lorde was referring to is likely this shot of George Brett, which shows the Kansas City legend surrounded by kids who are waiting for autographs.

Ironically enough, this is the same George Brett who was recently caught on video going off on an autograph seeker. These artists really do get their inspiration from all kinds of places.

Rob Gronkowski will reportedly appear in ‘Entourage’ movie

Rob Gronkowski spikeNow that the main cast from HBO’s hit series “Entourage” has all signed on to star in an upcoming film version of the show, the producers are working to put together a bang-up supporting cast. With the latest addition reportedly being New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, they’ve sure got our approval.

According to TMZ, Gronkowski’s theatrical manager Henry Penzi said Gronk is expected to make an appearance as himself in the “Entourage” movie. A number of well-known athletes such as Tom Brady, Adrian Peterson and Michael Phelps appeared in the “Entourage” series over the years, so Gronk will likely just be making a cameo rather than playing any type of significant role.

Earlier this week, rumors surfaced that Kate Upton could potentially play the female lead in the movie. That was enough to get us excited, but the addition of Gronkowski makes it that much better.

And hey, the Gronkowski brothers are currently pitching an animated series around Hollywood. Maybe this will help Rob get his foot in the door. We’ll cross our fingers.

Kate Upton could play female lead in ‘Entourage’ movie

Kate-UptonThose of us who have been experiencing “Entourage” withdrawals for the past two years were relieved to hear that all of the stars that made the HBO series famous have signed on to film a movie. If you’re an “Entourage” fan who also happens to love Kate Upton, we have great news.

According to TheWrap, com, Upton is one of the favorites to land the female lead role in the upcoming “Entourage” movie. The incredibly popular Sports Illustrated swimsuit model has not been formerly offered a role, though she is said to be in discussions to join the cast.

Since she captured the hearts of America with her body paint and nakedness in arctic climates, Upton has played minor roles in movies such as “Tower Heist” and “The Three Stooges.” She will also appear in an upcoming movie called “The Other Woman” alongside Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann. No details have been released about Kate’s potential role in the “Entourage” movie, though TheWrap.com speculates she could play Vince Chase’s (Adrian Grenier’s) latest love interest.

Fans of “Entourage” will tell you that the show ended with Vince planning to marry a Vanity Fair writer he fell in love with, so Upton could be in for another role. It was also pretty much a given that all of Vince’s girlfriends had to appear on screen with no clothes on at some point. Will Kate take it to that level? A man can dream.
