Jovon Robinson is sitting out practice at Auburn because his academic status is under review after a counselor admitted to falsifying his transcripts.
Robinson, a top running back recruit from the Memphis-area, has been held out of practice at Auburn since last week. A guidance counselor at Robinson’s Wooddale High School resigned after admitting to creating fraudulent transcripts for the talented prospect. The whole thing came as a huge shock to Robinson’s mother, as you could imagine.
“Everything he got, he got honestly, by hard work,” she told the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
The NCAA is investigating Robinson’s status and will try to determine if he qualifies to play based on his real transcripts, and if he knew the transcripts were being falsified. I’m guessing he did. A counselor likely wouldn’t do that unless he/she consulted with the athlete first. My guess is the player will say the falsification was done without his knowledge, and he’ll somehow be declared eligible to play. Isn’t that similar to what happened with Cam Newton?
