Caleb Moore almost certainly ‘not going to make it’ after X Games crash
Moore was attempting a flip during the snowmobile freestyle contest when he crashed. He under-rotated the flip and the skis of his snowmobile got caught in the snow. He went face-first into the snow, and the mobile rolled over him.
Moore, 25, was knocked unconscious but walked away from the crash after he came to. He was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a concussion, but he was later found to have bleeding around his heart. He had emergency heart surgery on Friday, and the heart problems reportedly led to an issue with his brain.
“Caleb is not doing good at all,” Caleb’s grandfather Charles Moore told The Denver Post Monday afternoon. “The prognosis is not good at all. It’s almost certain he’s not going to make it.”
Moore is currently in critical condition.
Moore’s brother, Colten, suffered a separate pelvis in an unrelated incident at the X Games also on Thursday.
There have not been any deaths at the Winter X Games in its 17 years of competition.
