Report: Rob Gronkowski may have to sit again in Week 2
Fans may have to wait another week to see Rob Gronkowski suit up for the New England Patriots.
According to ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss, it “wouldn’t be a surprise” if Gronkowski sat out the team’s Week 2 game against the Miami Dolphins due to his lingering hamstring problem.
According to Reiss, Gronkowski remains limited in practice. When the Patriots ran gauntlet drills and put a player in pads to try to navigate a set of teammates who were trying to knock the ball loose, Gronkowski never played that role, serving only as the so-called “whacker” trying to dislodge the ball.
This goes hand-in-hand with the other reports we’ve heard from practice during the course of the week. Yes, it’s New England’s home opener and a game they’d like to have Gronkowski in, but they stand a decent chance of beating Miami even without his help. It seems fairly likely that they’ll err on the side of caution.
