Rob Gronkowski shaves his head to help raise cancer awareness (Picture)

America’s favorite tight end has a brand new look. Over the course of his stellar 2011 season, Rob Gronkowski became known just as much for his spikey bro status haircut as he did for his celebratory spiking of the football. Whether it be hanging out with a pornstar or ragging on Tim Tebow for his virginity, Gronk always seemed to go with the gelled-up hair look. On Sunday morning, Gronkowski said goodbye to his locks and took part in the One Mission’s Buzz for Kids event, which raised more than $500,000 toward pediatric cancer research according to the Boston Herald. Even with a shaved head, Gronk still managed to be Gronk.

“I thought I was getting a number two,” he said after he checked out his new bald head. “It looks better than (Tom) Brady’s.”

Gronk said he had a blast with the kids and that the experience makes you “cherish your life more.” He also tweeted the photo you see above accompanied by the following message: “Got hyped with all the kids!! Woo.”

Sounds like just another day in the life of Rob Gronkowski. Kudos to him for making it a worthwhile one.

This is Gronk’s agent sitting down with him saying: Ok, we have to do something positive for your reputation.

Which is different from any other pro athlete who does something like this?

Some do it because they want to, some because they need to. This is SOP.

Yeah, I agree. I’m just surprised to hear someone think Gronk is smart enough to care about his image. I don’t pin him as the type of guy who cares at all

Gronkowski certainly doesn’t impress me as a guy overly concerned with his image. Either way, big ups to Gronk for shaving his head for the Kids With Cancer. A noble gesture.
