Frank Mir is coming off a TKO loss to Junior dos Santos at UFC 146, and the 33-year-old is already considering his career options when he’s done fighting. The two-time UFC heavyweight champion says he’d like to continue doing broadcasting, and he’s also open to pro wrestling.
“I like analyzing fights and I like doing colour commentating,” Mir told The Chronicle Journal. “It’s an opportunity I would take advantage of when I run into it. Hopefully it’s something I can do full time.”
Mir was an analyst on Versus calling WEC fights from 2007-2010, so he has experience in that realm. But a career in pro wrestling would be an entirely new venture for him.
“Not opposed to the idea,” Mir said of entering pro wrestling. “I can’t do a back flip or anything.”
Given how much success fighters like Brock Lesnar have had in pro wrestling, it’s no surprise Mir would consider it. He already has the monstrous body, and he’s already built a name and fan base.
Even though Mir says he’s open to the possibility, we shouldn’t take this story to mean he’s going to sign with the WWE next week. He still probably has a few years of fighting left in him.
