GSP back to training full-time

Georges St-Pierre has been somewhat of a forgotten man in the MMA world since undergoing reconstructive surgery on his right knee last fall. St-Pierre tore the ACL in his knee during a wrestling session last year and has been rehabbing since undergoing surgery. The rehab has been limited to working on regaining strength in his knee, and doing cardio work. But he announced on Wednesday that he is back in business:

GSP isn’t ready to spar yet, but he is doing some punching in addition to kicking. He knows he has to slowly rebuild before going too crazy with his training.

“I go very light,” he told The Canadian Press. “Maybe in a few weeks, I will pick it up and I will be 100 per cent. But right now I have to go gradually because – my movement pattern – I haven’t done this in a long time.”

GSP’s last fight was a win over Jake Shields at UFC 129 in Toronto in April 2011. There has been speculation that he will face Carlos Conduit at UFC 154 in November, though nothing has been confirmed. Should he win that fight, he could end up facing the winner of Johny Hendricks-Martin Kampmann.
