Doc Brown’s NFL Picks Against the Spread: Week 6

So you take the Texans expecting a home win, then Matt Schaub gets hospitalized the night before the game. Sage Rosenfels appears like a good bet to lead the team to victory and then he turns the ball over three times in the final eight minutes of the game to blow a two score lead. Such is the life of the NFL picker. Anyway, after a 1-2 Week 5, Doc Brown is now 8-7 on the season and in need of a strong week. The pick’ins are slimmer with teams on the bye week, but I feel I have isolated a few good plays. As always, it’s Doc Brown’s NFL Picks brought to you by Betus.com which has the latest NFL lines.

On with the picks.

Packers +1.5 @ Seahawks – Seems like a win-win to me. You either get Matt Hasselbeck on a bad leg, or Charlie Frye. I like my odds either way. Aaron Rodgers may have a bad shoulder, but he sure didn’t show it last weekend. The only issue is the Packers’ inability to stuff the run and Seattle’s ability to pound it. That’s a concern, but I’m still rolling with the Packers on this one.

Colts -3.5 vs. Ravens – The Colts haven’t looked good this year while the Ravens defense has. Thing is, if the Colts get a two score lead early — which is what I expect — the Ravens offense won’t be able to come back. That’s what we’re banking on here, because if the Colts make a mistake and fall behind early, Baltimore will be able to run it and control the clock. Not a good combination.

Buccaneers -1.5 vs. Panthers – It’s a huge divisional game and I think Tampa Bay will come out on top and gain a first place tie. The injury to Brian Griese was a good thing because Jeff Garcia won’t make the types of mistakes he does. From there, I saw what the Bucs defense did on the road against the Broncos. I’m sold. Turnover margin will be the difference in this one, and the Bucs will win that battle and the game.
