High school team wins on amazing inbound alley-oop (Video)

high-school-alley-oopThe inbound alley-oop is an incredibly challenging play to execute. When you attempt it at the high school level from half-court with two seconds remaining in a tie game, it’s almost impossible. SouthLake Christian Academy in North Carolina found a way.

With the score tied 59-59, senior center Andrew Howard got behind the defense and threw down an awesome one-handed dunk to give SLCA a 61-59 win over Hickory Grove. The play was perfectly executed and made its way onto SportsCenter.

We are no strangers to inbound alley-oops, but most of the time they happen when the pass comes from the baseline. These high schoolers can obviously ball.

Blake Griffin dunks on Kris Humphries (Video)

Blake Griffin dunks are already crowd pleasers, but it’s even better when it’s over Kris Humphries.

In the third quarter of Wednesday’s Los Angeles Clippers-Boston Celtics game, Griffin threw down one of his trademark huge dunks on Humphries. It was all power.

Griffin got the ball at the elbow, took one step, and then skied high to throw down on the helpless Hump.

It’s even more enjoyable on loop in GIF form:

LeBron James dunked on Paul Millsap nasty style and then stared him down (Video)

For the second straight game, LeBron James threw down a posterizing dunk to remind everyone he’s one of the best dunkers in the NBA.

Three days after ruining Ben McLemore with a huge dunk, James did the same to Paul Millsap.

Millsap, like McLemore, tried to do the respectable thing and take a charge, but James steamrolled him. Then, for good measure, James stared down Millsap to ensure his dominance was recognized.

LeBron finished the game 16-of-28 for 38 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in a 121-119 overtime win.

Look at how high he got on the dunk:

He got so much air Millsap’s head was at his thigh. Goodness.

Seventh Woods posts jaw-dropping dunk (Video)

Seventh Woods dunkSeventh Woods is only a high school sophomore, but he’s already receiving national attention for his incredible ability.

The 15-year-old even made SportsCenter’s Top 10 on Friday night for this jaw-dropping dunk he posted at the Chick-Fil-A Classic in Columbia, S.C. on Friday. Would you look at all that power and explosiveness? 15-year-olds shouldn’t be able to do that!

According to his MaxPreps profile, Woods entered Friday’s game averaging 18.6 points per game on 51 percent shooting.

This mix tape of Seventh Woods in his freshman season went viral earlier this year. It has over 9 million views:

LeBron James dunks on Ben McLemore, just destroys him (Video)

Ben McLemore has played 24 career NBA games, but it wasn’t until his 25th that the rookie truly had his “welcome to the league” moment.

During the first quarter of Friday’s Miami Heat-Sacramento Kings game, LeBron James just destroyed McLemore with a vicious dunk. The dude almost got Mozgov’d.

Let’s give McLemore credit for trying to take the charge in the situation. He’s a brave soul. But he will also go down in the long chapter of victims of LeBron’s huge slams.

By the way, that was a heck of a job by the Kings with their defensive switch after the high pick.

This photo of the dunk is outstanding:

Victor Oladipo dunks all over the Atlanta Hawks (Video)

Victor Oladipo dunkVictor Oladipo threw down quite the rim rocker against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night.

The Orlando Magic rookie drove to the basket in the fourth quarter and dunked all over Al Horford AND Paul Millsap. If you watch the video, it looks like Jeff Teague was trying to funnel Oladipo to his bigs (either that or he’s incredibly lazy on defense), and Oladipo still yammed on both of them.

Oladipo finished with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and five assists in the Magic’s 109-92 road win. The No. 2 overall pick is averaging over 12 points per game and starting to pick up his field goal percentage. And he just added a couple of heads to his dunk victim mantle.

Xavier Henry dunks all over Jeff Withey (Video)

Xavier Henry on Tuesday got to do what he wasn’t able to do in college: dunk on Jeff Withey during a game.

The two were freshman at Kansas in the 2009-2010 season — Henry’s only year in college — and Henry just unloaded on his former teammate with a dunk on Tuesday night.

During the third quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers-New Orleans Pelicans game, Henry had the ball beyond the 3-point line, pump-faked, and drove down the lane. He took off for the dunk inside the key and just soared over Withey, who stood still in an attempt to draw a charging foul. Instead, he wound up on a poster.

Like Stu Lantz said, you can’t just stand there hoping to take a charge, you have to challenge that!
