Report: Carlos Correa being advised by Alex Rodriguez, is switching agents
Carlos Correa is being advised by Alex Rodriguez and preparing to switch agents, according to a report.
MLB Network’s Mark Feinsand reported on Thursday that Correa is leaving The Legacy Agency to sign with Hollywood talent agency William Morris Endeavor. WME agent Jon Rosen, who represents some well-known celebrities, is an MLBPA-certified agent, the agency tells Larry Brown Sports. Rosen has represented both Rodriguez and Matt Vasgersian in their contract talks with ESPN, Feinsand says.
According to a source, Astros SS Carlos Correa has left agent Greg Genske and hired talent agency William Morris Endeavor to represent him – for both marketing and baseball contracts. At the moment, WME does not have a certified agent but is in the process of getting certified.

WME's Jon Rosen, who counts Rachael Ray, Bobby Flay & Al Roker among his clients, is in the process of getting certified by the MLBPA and will likely be Correa's lead agent, according to a source. Rosen also represented Alex Rodriguez & Matt Vasgersian in their deal with ESPN.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan notes that A-Rod has been advising Correa on his future.
Alex Rodriguez has been advising Carlos Correa on his future, sources tell ESPN. An agent switch often accompanies advice from outsiders, but going to an agency with no baseball business is unprecedented, especially considering Correa will be a free agent after the 2021 season. https://t.co/oUqAXmtAyo

Given that A-Rod was an infielder for the New York Yankees most of his career, there was instant speculation that Correa could end up with the Yanks in the future.
The 24-year-old 2012 No. 1 overall pick has two more years under team control in arbitration before becoming a free agent after 2021. Correa would be set to cash in big in free agency at that time and may be taking a risk by proceeding with an agent who is new to baseball contract negotiations.
Correa was the 2015 NL Rookie of the Year and made the All-Star team in 2017, the same year he won the World Series. He has battled injuries the past three seasons and has not played in over 110 regular season games in a season since 2016.
*A previous version of this article said Rosen was in the process of becoming certified. WME informed us Rosen has already been certified.
