Dan Haren tweets funny memories of his baseball career
Dan Haren retired from Major League Baseball at the end of the 2015 season, and now he’s using his Twitter account to share some great insights into his career.
Haren decided he was bored on his exercise bike on Monday and took to Twitter to share some stories you can’t get anywhere else. Just a few of the highlights:
I went into almost every start the last few years thinking… How the hell am I gonna get these guys out

There's was atleast 3-4 times I thought the team plane was gonna crash.

I had to take Imodium most days I pitched to plug myself up.

My only superstition was to make sure I had 2 glasses of wine the night before I pitched. This ties in with the Imodium,

I gave up so many homers cause I didn't wanna walk people. That and cause I threw 85 mph meatballs sometimes.

I only hit like 5-7 people on purpose.

Sometimes when the count was 3-1, I would just throw it down the middle and hope for the best. People pop up in batting practice right

Not embedded, but also worth the time: his great joy in homering off fellow pitcher Chris Carpenter; his hatred of pitching at Coors Field in Denver; the time he gave up eleven runs and still won; his inexplicable struggles against B.J. Upton, but not Melvin; how his threat to retire last winter backfired; and to cap it all off, a shot at Anthony Rizzo. This is Twitter done right, and it’s not a huge surprise, since Haren has proven himself to be an expert at it before.
