The Arizona Diamondbacks announced on Monday that Dave Stewart was out as the team’s general manager, and Chip Hale was out as the team’s manager following a 66-93 finish to the season.
For Stewart, it’s clear he could not possibly care less about his termination. In fact, he almost seems to welcome it.
“They may think I’m going to blast people, but I’m not,” Stewart told USA Today following his firing. “It is what it is. It’s that side of the business. To be honest with you, I’m kind of relieved.

“Quite frankly, I’ve got better things to do.”
Stewart offered absolutely no parting shots at owner Ken Kendrick or president Derrick Hall, simply saying he and Kendrick were “like oil and water.” But Stewart did praise some of the team’s scouts and players, saying the Diamondbacks aren’t too far off from returning to their winning ways.
Despite taking no direct shots at team owners or management, how boss is it to walk off into the sunset after dropping a line like “quite frankly, I’ve got better things to do.”
No exit tirade could even come close to that sort of burn. Yikes.
