Diamondbacks fire GM Dave Stewart, manager Chip Hale; reassessing Tony La Russa
The Arizona Diamondbacks have cleaned house by firing general manager Dave Stewart and manager Chip Hale, the team announced Monday.
The moves come after a 69-93 season after Arizona so aggressively adopted a win-now strategy during the offseason.

The fate of chief baseball officer Tony La Russa remains unclear. The team is reportedly still assessing what role he has going forward.
I'm told the Dbacks are "still deciding" what will happen with Tony La Russa.

We’ve had the idea for a while now that things are a bit dysfunctional in the desert. Stewart obviously made some ill-advised trades, but there’s a good argument to be made that La Russa, who hasn’t been fired yet, is the guy who deserves to be shown the door the most. He hired these guys and under his stewardship, the organization has become something of a joke. The best course of action would probably be to clean house and start over, and it sounds as though that still could happen.
