The baseball gods proved on Sunday that they do exist.
In what was Vin Scully’s final game calling Dodgers games before he retires, the Dodgers rallied with a tying home run in the ninth, and then capped it all off with a walk-off home run to win it in the 10th.
Charlie Culberson smacked his first home run of the season at the right time as his walk-off shot gave the Dodgers a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies and the NL West title. Here’s Scully’s final call:

And after the celebration of the plate, the Dodgers made certain to recognize Scully by tipping their caps to him as a team.

Many Dodgers players made certain to recognize Scully with a tip of the cap throughout the game:

Scully served as the voice of the Dodgers for 67 years, dating all the way back to 1950 and their days in Brooklyn. At 88, he finally decided to hang things up — even when he still was calling games in a fashion just as lovely as ever.
Scully asked fans “do you mind listening?” before playing a recording of him singing “Wind Beneath My Wings” to his adoring fans.
Here he is exiting the press box that was named after him for the final time:

Vin was the voice of the Dodgers for generations and generations of Dodgers fans. Perhaps the greatest sports announcer ever, it was truly a great fortune to have him as the local announcer for my hometown team.
No matter what, it will always be time for Dodger baseball, Vin.
