Extent of Juan Soto’s forearm injury revealed

Yankees star Juan Soto looking confused

The New York Yankees appear to have averted crisis with Childish Bambino.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported Friday that the initial prognosis for Yankees star Juan Soto is that he is only dealing with inflammation in his left forearm and is expected to be OK. Heyman notes that Soto had an MRI earlier in the day on Friday revealing the prognosis (but adds that a radiologist will still review Soto’s results just to be sure).

The former NL batting champion Soto had to leave Thursday’s game against Minnesota due to the injury, causing widespread panic from Yankees fans. Yankees manager Aaron Boone noted that Soto had been dealing with the forearm issue for roughly the last week or so.

Along with teammate Aaron Judge, Soto is one of the early frontrunners for AL MVP this season. He is having a monster first year as a Yankee, batting .318 with a .424 OBP, both of which lead the AL. Soto has also turned in 17 home runs and 53 RBIs while appearing in 63 of 64 games thus far.

While it sounds like Soto could still miss a few days due to the inflammation, that is excellent overall news for the Yankees. They do have big concerns when it comes to Soto’s contract situation, but the more pressing matter right now of his health does seem to be in order.
