San Francisco Giants pitcher Sean Hjelle has issued a response after his wife made troubling allegations against him via social media.
In a TikTok post on Friday, Hjelle’s wife Caroline stood with her and Hjelle’s two children and suggested the 28-year-old pitcher abandoned his family. She also accused Hjelle of abuse.
“When my MLB husband abandons us on Mothers Day a week after this once I finally found out about his affairs and stopped putting up with his abuse so I’ve been raising two boys alone,” the post said.

The Giants issued a statement on Saturday saying they have been in contact with Major League Baseball, which is looking into the situation. Hjelle also addressed the allegations following San Francisco’s win 3-2 win over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday and said he and Caroline have been separated for more than a year.
Hjelle said he and Caroline are “a signature away” from finalizing their divorce.
“I don’t have an official comment right now. I would like to talk to my agent, my lawyer. This has been something that has been going on for over a year now in terms of our relationship, our divorce, our separation and everything. I don’t have any official comment right now, I just want to talk to the appropriate people to figure out what the steps are,” Hjelle said, via Maria Guardado of MLB.com. “I’m just taking it in stride right now. No official comment right now. I feel confident saying that I will have one eventually. I don’t have an exact timeline on that, but I would like to actually get with the people that are handling the situation with me and for me before I actually make an official statement.”
Hjelle began the season in Triple-A but has made six bullpen appearances since he was called up earlier this month. He allowed two hits and an earned run in Friday’s 7-5 loss to the Red Sox and was charged with the loss.
Giants manager Bob Melvin said prior to Saturday’s game that Hjelle was available to pitch, though the right-hander was not used.
