Ketel Marte’s home burglarized during All-Star Game

Ketel Marte has become the latest professional athlete to fall victim to a home break-in.

The Arizona Diamondbacks star infielder Marte had his home in Scottsdale, Ariz. burglarized during Tuesday’s 2025 MLB All-Star Game, David Baker of CBS 5 News in Arizona reported Wednesday. Police confirmed that a burglary occurred at some point in the evening and that “numerous personal items,” including jewelry, were stolen from Marte’s residence (though nobody was home at the time).

No arrests have been made in the case, and the investigation is still ongoing. You can read Baker’s full report on the situation here.

The 31-year-old Marte made his third career All-Star appearance on Tuesday. He was the starting second baseman for the NL as All-Star festivities took place at Truist Park in Atlanta, Ga. (which is on the other side of the country from Scottsdale, Ariz.).

Marte went 1-for-2 in the All-Star Game with a two-RBI double during the first inning off Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal to open up the scoring. Though the final score was officially 6-6, the NL won via an exciting “swing-off” tiebreaker in place of extra innings.

The switch-hitting Marte is batting .290 with 19 home runs and 40 RBIs in 68 games for Arizona this season. But he was involved in an ugly incident last month during which an opposing fan made a remark to Marte about his late mother (who died in a 2017 car crash) during a game. While the fan ultimately received a severe punishment over the incident, Marte now finds himself dealing with another unfortunate situation in the form of a home burglary.
