Nestor Cortes had a brutal pitching outing against his former team on Saturday, and he pulled a weak move afterwards.
Cortes got lit up for 6 hits, 5 walks and 8 runs over 2-plus innings in his Milwaukee Brewers’ 20-9 loss to the New York Yankees. He surrendered 5 home runs and saw his ERA explode to 36.00. Cortes wasn’t alone in his awful day as teammate Connor Thomas relieved him and was charged with 8 runs over 2 innings as well.
This was Cortes’ season debut and first start since being traded by the Yankees to the Brewers. It marked his return to Yankee Stadium, and a return to some not so great memories of the big grand slam Cortes allowed in the World Series to Freddie Freeman. Perhaps Cortes didn’t want to talk about any of that, because he avoided the media after Saturday’s game.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Brewers reporter Todd Rosiak reported that Cortes did not speak with the media due to a “miscommunication,” according to a team spokesperson. Cortes apparently plans to speak with reporters before Sunday’s game.
Later, Cortes apologized through a team spokesperson for a "miscommunication" and said he will speak to reporters before Sunday's series finale.

It’s up to you to decide whether or not you believe Cortes did not speak to the media due to a miscommunication or whether it was intentional. There aren’t too many people who would want to answer questions from reporters after an outing like that, especially one that came against your former team.
The Yankees set several team records on Saturday thanks to their offense. Their 9 home runs was the most in franchise history and one short of tying the MLB record for home runs in a game. Some joked that Cortes was still helping out his former team.
