After their 101-win season flamed out in the ALDS last year, the Baltimore Orioles may be coming back for blood.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported on Thursday that the Orioles remain active in the market for starting pitching. Right-hander Michael Lorenzen is among those whom Baltimore has registered interest in, Morosi adds.

The 32-year-old Lorenzen was an All-Star last season, splitting time between the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies. He went 9-9 with a 4.18 ERA overall, even throwing an unlikely no-hitter in August. Lorenzen remains a free agent and may just be the best righty available (with lefties Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery still out there too).

For the Orioles, they are known more for the quality of their bullpen than of their starting pitching (though righties like Kyle Bradish and Dean Kremer were surprisingly solid last year). Lorenzen isn’t necessarily a high-strikeout guy or too much of an innings-eater. But he would be a strong veteran depth piece for an O’s team that has also been sniffing around the trade market for a rotation upgrade.
