Padres add another quality starting pitcher with big trade
The San Diego Padres have made numerous trades in recent years to beef up their starting rotation, and Sean Manaea is their latest addition.
The Padres acquired Manaea in a trade with the Oakland A’s on Sunday. Mark Feinsand of MLB.com was the first to report the deal.

Manaea, 30, will add even more upside and depth to a rotation that was already loaded with it. The Padres have Yu Darvish and Blake Snell — both of whom they acquired last offseason — as their No. 1 and No. 2 starters. They also have Mike Clevinger returning from Tommy John surgery and now Manaea, Joe Musgrove, Nick Martinez and Chris Paddack. San Diego could also use some of that depth to make another trade.
Manaea made 32 starts for Oakland last season. The left-hander went 11-10 with a 3.91 ERA and struck out 194 batters in 179 1/3 innings.
