Yasiel Puig hurt himself crashing into wall on Marlins’ walk-off hit (Video)
The Dodgers had a double-whammy in Sunday’s 5-4 loss to the Miami Marlins. They lost on a walk-off hit by Jeff Baker, and Yasiel Puig was hurt on the same play.
Baker was facing Jamey Wright with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, a runner on second and the game tied at 4. He took a curveball away and hit it off the right field wall for a walk-off double. Puig lost sight of where he was on the field as he was going max-effort to make the play, and he smacked into the wall pretty hard.
Puig passed concussion tests and is considered day-to-day. He’s lucky it wasn’t worse, because that looked really bad.
What was cool was seeing Marlins starter Jose Fernandez go over to check on Puig after the game:

Fernandez saw his ERA rise to 1.74 after allowing two earned runs in seven innings. What a stiff.
Between this and the thumb issue on his head-first dive into first, Puig is lucky he’s avoiding serious injuries.
