Gerald Green returns to practice, says he’s ‘not proud of’ incident

Gerald Green Heat

Gerald Green returned to Miami Heat practice on Saturday for the first time since the incident that led to his hospitalization and suspension.

“I’m just trying to just get over this situation,” Green told reporters Saturday, via the Miami Sun-Sentinel’s Ira Winderman. “I can’t apologize enough to the residents that lived in my building, my fans who supported me and definitely my family.

“That was a situation that I’m not proud of. But I’m ready to move forward. I’m ready to continue with the team’s goals. I’m ready to be with my brothers.”

Green didn’t take questions or offer any new details in speaking to the press.

“To me, it was just more hurtful that I wasn’t with my teammates,” Green said. “I feel like I let my fans down not being able to watch me play. I feel like I let my family down.

“I’m deeply saddened for what happened. But I’m ready to move on from it. I’m glad that Miami Heat organization had my back and I’m ready to move on from it.”

No charges were filed stemming from the incident, which allegedly saw Green act erratically and punch a security guard in the face at his condo complex.
