Ice Cube shares which players are on his BIG3 wish list

Kobe Bryant

Ice Cube has done a tremendous job of growing the BIG3 basketball league since it was founded two years ago, and he still has visions of attracting some of the biggest names in the sport going forward.

Appearing as a guest on a recent episode of HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel,” Ice Cube was asked if he has any dream recruits that he would love to bring to the BIG3. He said there are about 20 names on his list, including Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett and Vince Carter.

Ice Cube was then asked if he is confident he can sell players of that caliber on joining the league.

“It’s not about me selling them,” he said. “The league sells itself.”

For the most part, the BIG3 has attracted players who are trying to prove something. They either weren’t happy with the way their NBA careers ended or are trying to be noticed for a potential future in the NBA. Guys like Kobe and Garnett played for so long and accomplished so much that it seems unlikely they would want to play in the BIG3, but you never know.

We know of one player who was recently encouraged to join the BIG3 so he can prove himself, and that will likely continue to be the type of talent the league attracts.
