Rajon Rondo explains how he messed up his movie debut after being offered role

Rajon Rondo

The sports world has been buzzing about Kevin Garnett’s role in a feature film that will soon be released, and apparently Rajon Rondo could have been in on it. Unfortunately, a missed flight resulted in Rondo blowing his big chance.

Garnett co-stars alongside Adam Sandler in “Uncut Gems,” which hits theaters on Christmas Eve. There’s already been talk that Sandler could win his first Oscar for the performance, and Rondo said Sunday that the movie is one he could have been a part of had he not missed his 6 a.m. flight the day he was supposed to shoot.

“First big role, too,” Rondo said, via Bill Oram of The Athletic. “I missed the flight and I was like, ‘S—, I don’t want to take a private (jet), about $95,000.’ … F—ed up my debut.”

All indications are that “Uncut Gems” is going to be a blockbuster hit, so Rondo might regret that.

Garnett and Rondo are still close from their time together with the Boston Celtics, which is true for most of the key players from that championship team aside from one. It’s probably safe to assume Garnett landed Rondo the cameo, but his former teammate blew it. Rondo may have to find another career path now after he is done playing basketball.
