The Cleveland Cavaliers traded Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics over the summer, but before that happened, the San Antonio Spurs apparently made a push for the point guard.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on “SportsCenter” Wednesday night that the Spurs tried really hard to acquire Irving.
Interesting nugget from @wojespn on @notthefakeSVP about Kyrie just now. "San Antonio tried really really hard to get him."

And why wouldn’t they have? Irving is a young star in the game. The Spurs were and remain in need of young talent on the team. Irving would have been perfect for them to add to the mix. Unfortunately for them, San Antonio didn’t have the promise of a Brooklyn Nets draft pick to entice Cleveland the way Boston did.
