The Golden State Warriors made easy work of the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday to take a 3-1 series lead in the Western Conference semifinals, and Steve Kerr wasn’t going to take any chances by leaving Kevin Durant in the game.
Durant, who ended up with a game-high 38 points, was subbed out with four minutes remaining in the fourth. It would be fair to assume that Kerr didn’t want to risk any injuries to his star players with his team leading 108-85, but perhaps it was more about superstition. After all, the Warriors have not won a game when Durant scores 39 or more points.

This is why Steve Kerr subbed out @KDTrey5 today right after dropping 38 points against the Pelicans. #DubNation pic.twitter.com/qIkm9lfDTJ

You never know, right? Would the Warriors have been in danger of blowing a 23-point lead if Durant got to 39 points or higher? Perhaps Kerr, who is a big fan of his starting five’s new nickname, believes in jinxes.
