Washington Wizards players reportedly expect coach Randy Wittman to be fired after the season concludes.
With the team currently at 40-41 and out of the playoffs after two consecutive Eastern Conference semifinals appearances, players believe that the season will cost Wittman his job, according to CSN Mid Atlantic’s J. Michael.
Several players were spoken to after Wednesday’s shootaround, and none expected Wittman to return.
“I don’t see how they could bring him back,” one player said.
Wittman has clashed with a few players during the season. Some, including John Wall and Jared Dudley, reportedly believe that he fails to take their feedback into account when making in-game adjustments. His public criticism of Marcin Gortat went down poorly with the players, and he seems to have lost the backing of star guard Wall. He seems to still have Bradley Beal on his side, but that doesn’t appear as though it will matter.
