Dale Earnhardt Jr’s girlfriend got mad at him for buying Powerball ticket

With a recent Powerball jackpot exceeding $560 million, seemingly everyone bought a ticket for a chance at the big money. Included in that group was NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jr. Yes, Earnhardt has numerous endorsements and has earned a substantial amount from race winnings during his career. That said, who wouldn’t want an extra $560 million.

Wanting is one thing, needing is another. That’s where Earnhardt’s girlfriend, Amy Reimann, comes in. After finding out Earnhardt got in on the action and bought a ticket, Reimann had a little something to say about it.

“Amy got mad at me. She’s like, ‘What the hell are you buying a Powerball ticket for? You don’t need to be winning it,’ ” Earnhardt said via NASCAR Talk. “I promised her right then I would split half with a charity. So, she made me feel pretty bad.”

As it turns out, Earnhardt’s ticket won him $12 so he didn’t walk away from the drawing empty handed.

Amy Reimann isn’t the only one who feels Earnhardt (and other athletes) shouldn’t purchase lottery tickets because of how fortunate they already are. And one can certainly understand the reasoning. However, turning one dollar into many millions is a temptation that’s certainly hard to ignore.
