Jacob Tucker, a 5’10” guard from D-III Illinois College, won the Denny’s Slam Dunk Contest on Thursday evening in Houston. Tucker actually made the dunk contest after winning the fan vote on Facebook. His campaign video has netted over 3.1 million views on YouTube, helping launch his candidacy. Once he was voted in, he took care of the rest.

Though there’s little doubt Tucker deserved to win the contest, he did acknowledge the whole white guy/underdog factor played a part in him becoming the favorite. “I’m not the typical person you think of when you think of great dunkers, so that probably worked in my favor a little bit.” No doubt it did, but it was earned.
