Jayson Tatum out two weeks with foot sprain
Already down one star freshman with the beginning of the regular season looming, the Duke Blue Devils may now be without another as well.
The team announced on Wednesday that top recruit Jayson Tatum will be out for two weeks after suffering a left foot sprain in practice on Tuesday.
Fortunately, it appears as though the injury to the 18-year-old small forward could have been much worse.
“This is the best possible news,” Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski was quoted as saying. “It is a manageable injury that will not impact Jayson long-term. We look forward to having him back very soon.”
Tatum, who said over the summer that Coach K was the reason why he chose to attend Duke, will join fellow fab first-year Harry Giles, who is roughly halfway through a six-week recovery timetable after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, on the sidelines.
Duke tips off the regular season at home against Marist on November 11, so there’s at least some uncertainty with regard to the availability of their two posh frosh to begin the year.
