It’s not easy sharing a name with a famous basketball coach. Singer Tony Bennett and yours truly know a little something about that.
Bennett had his Twitter blown up by fans wishing him well/checking on him after the Virginia basketball coach of the same name collapsed during his team’s first-round game against Hampton at the NCAA Tournament on Thursday. Just to clear up any possible confusion, the singer tweeted the following:
I wanted to let all my fans know that Im ok. Glad to hear UVA coach Tony Bennett is fine after his fall. Congrats @UVAMensHoops on the win!

Glad to hear both are fine.
Virginia’s Bennett said after his team’s blowout win that he was dealing with being sick and that played a role in him going down. He said he was hydrating afterwards and was more embarrassed than anything else.
As long as the Cavs keep advancing, he’ll be able to make everyone forget about this.
