Just when you thought that Charlie Strong was in danger of being fired, he goes out and wins a big game to cool the talk of him losing his job.
Strong’s Longhorns upset Baylor in Austin on Saturday 35-34 to hand the Bears their first loss of the season. Texas is now 4-4 and 2-3 in conference play — numbers that are just average and below expectations for a program like Texas.
Even though the program has struggled this season, Strong was defiant in the face of criticism. He said after Texas’ win that the program is “headed forward.”
Texas coach Charlie Strong defiant: "It’s not a program that’s in disarray, which many of you think. It’s a program that’s headed forward."

Strong isn’t the only person involved with the program who’s dealt with tough times; he said after the game that players and parents have apologized to him about things they’ve read on social media.
Strong said he had players/parents apologize to him about stuff they'd read on social media. Told them not to worry about him.

Everything seems to be weighing on Strong, which likely explains his look of relief rather than celebration after the Longhorns pulled out the win.
