Curt Cignetti answers whether Indiana should make playoff
Indiana may have been dominated by Ohio State on Saturday, but Curt Cignetti has no doubts about whether his school still deserves a spot in the College Football Playoff.
The Hoosiers entered their game at Columbus 10-0 but they lost 38-15 to the Buckeyes to make both teams 10-1.
This year, the College Football Playoff field will expand from four teams to twelve for the first time. Cignetti, who is in his first season as IU’s football coach, firmly believes his squad belongs in the field.
“Is that a serious question?” Cignetti said when asked in his postgame press conference about whether he thinks IU should be a playoff team.
“I’m not even going to answer that. The answer is so obvious,” Cignetti said with a laugh.
Cignetti then gave a wink and not to the media, in case they didn’t recognize his sarcasm.

Indiana has one game remaining — against Purdue — and is expected to finish 11-1. Will that record be enough to get them into the CFP? It’s questionable.
IU’s best wins have come against Michigan and Washington. They’ve only played one opponent that has a winning record in Big Ten play (Ohio State) and lost badly. But Penn State and BYU possibly losing additional games could help the Hoosiers’ chances of making the field.
