Hugh Freeze to coach from hospital bed in coaches’ box
Liberty coach Hugh Freeze has been hit by a staph infection, but that will not stop him from coaching against the Syracuse Orange on Saturday.
Freeze is still recovering from a life-threatening staph infection he suffered in mid-August, and will not be able to coach from the sidelines. Therefore, he will work from the coaches’ box in a hospital bed during the game.
Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze will work from a hospital bed in the coach's booth tonight, per LU Athletics.
Freeze's staph infection is gone, but he's only two weeks into a 4-6 week recovery from surgery. He's most comfortable when reclined and plans to fly to ULL next week.

That is some serious commitment, even if Freeze’s contact with his team will be very limited.
The 49-year-old has a rather checkered history dating back to his time at Ole Miss. He won’t want to blow this second chance, and if he has to contribute from a hospital bed in a coaches’ box, so be it.
