Jeremy Pruitt thinks Tennessee has ‘really good team’ this year

Jeremy Pruitt

The Tennessee Volunteers have been pretty bad for most of the past 10 years. Since 2008, they’ve endured seven losing seasons and peaked with consecutive 9-4 years from Butch Jones before he was fired. They’re on their fourth head coach since firing Philip Fulmer, and they seem confident about how things are looking this year.

Jeremy Pruitt, who is entering his second season as the Vols’ head coach, said Wednesday that Tennessee has a “really good team.”

Would you expect a head coach to say he thinks his team will be bad? Of course not. But saying that is actually a big deal for the Vols.

Tennessee opens the season on Saturday against Georgia State. They have three straight winnable games (BYU, Chattanooga are the others) to begin the season before a tough stretch at Florida and then home against Georgia.

Though Tennessee went through a messy high-profile search for a new head coach, they seem to be in good hands with Pruitt.
