The 2015 NFL draft order has been established for picks 1-20 with only the remaining slots to be determined based on how teams finish in the postseason.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are already on the clock as they have the first pick in the draft. Based on how terrible the Mike Glennon/Josh McCown platoon was, it’s pretty much a certainty that they will select a quarterback. As of now, most believe that comes down to the past two Heisman Trophy winners: Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota. Though Tampa Bay has gotten a few good seasons out of some quarterbacks, I will argue that they have never really had a successful franchise quarterback. Whichever player they select will have a lot of work to do to change the franchise history, but at least they will have Mike Evans as a weapon.
1. Tampa Bay Bucs (2-14)
2. Tennessee Titans (2-14)
3. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-13)
4. Oakland Raiders (3-13)
5. Washington Redskins (4-12)
6. New York Jets (4-12)
7. Chicago Bears (5-11)
8. Atlanta Falcons (6-10)
9. New York Giants (6-10)
10. St. Louis Rams (6-10)
11. Minnesota Vikings (7-9)
12. Cleveland Browns (7-9)
13. New Orleans Saints (7-9)
14. Miami Dolphins (8-8)
15. San Francisco 49ers (8-8)
16. Houston Texans (9-7)
*17. Kansas City Chiefs (9-7)
*18. San Diego Chargers (9-7)
19. Cleveland Browns (from 9-7 Buffalo Bills)
20. Philadelphia Eagles (10-6)
It is still painful to see the Eagles with that 10-6 record not make the postseason, but that is what happens when you take all division winners. Instead, the 7-8-1 Carolina Panthers are not only in the postseason, but they are also hosting a playoff game.
The Browns will pick at Nos. 12 and 19. They have extra picks thanks to the Sammy Watkins trade. Buffalo is not set to pick until the second round — No. 50 overall. Looking back at the 2014 draft, guys like Odell Beckham Jr. and Kelvin Benjamin were both taken below the No. 9 spot, making me question Buffalo’s decision to pay such a hefty price to move up to take Watkins, who was good, but not worth a first and fourth.
