Adrian Peterson has become somewhat of a forgotten man in Minnesota as the Vikings have surged to a 5-1 record mostly without him. But the truth is Peterson still could return this season.
All Day was placed on injured reserve in September after tearing his meniscus in Week 2. He is eligible to return in Week 11 (Nov. 20). But Pro Football Talk says people within the organization believe Peterson will return in December.
According to PFT, Peterson “has been spotted in the team’s facility on a regular basis recently, as he rehabs a knee that was surgically repaired in September.”
That’s a really good sign.
Though Peterson is 31 and was off to a poor start this season averaging just 1.6 yards per carry, there is little doubt that he would serve as a boost for the Vikings. Jerick McKinnon is battling an ankle injury, which leaves Matt Asiata as the team’s featured back for the moment. At the least, the Vikings could use the extra depth.
The Vikings have five games on the schedule between December and January, and that’s not to mention any potential postseason games. There is still time for Peterson to return and have an impact on the Vikings this season, which is why he was included on this list.
