Antonio Cromartie: Tom Brady should not be suspended

Antonio-Cromartie

You know Tom Brady’s four-game suspension for his alleged role in Deflategate is a bit harsh when members of the New York Jets start defending the New England Patriots quarterback.

During an appearance on ESPN’s “First Take” Thursday, Antonio Cromartie criticized NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and said Brady should not be suspended. Cromartie feels a $25,000 fine would have been sufficient.

“Honestly, I don’t think he should be suspended,” the Jets cornerback said, per Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com. “Nobody is safe. No matter who you are, Roger will do what he wants to do. It don’t matter what the rules say, he’s gonna make his own rules as he goes.”

Not only does Cromartie dislike Brady, but a few years back he made some of the harshest comments any NFL player has ever made about the four-time Super Bowl champion.

While Cromartie noted that the players are the ones who gave Goodell the freedom to act as judge, jury and executioner, it’s clear some players — even ones outside of New England — have grown tired of Goodell’s irrational disciplinary decisions.

When you look at the way Goodell blatantly lied to make Brady sound more dishonest than he was during his appeal, it’s almost impossible to defend the commissioner.
