Bills player claims cornerback Vontae Davis retired at halftime
Did the Buffalo Bills lose a player to retirement at halftime of Sunday’s game? That’s the allegation from one of their players.
Linebacker Lorenzo Alexander claimed after the game that cornerback Vontae Davis not only pulled himself from the game at halftime of the Bills’ 31-20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, but that he retired.
Lorenzo Alexander said he was told Vontae Davis pulled himself out and retired at halftime. Said he hasn't seen anything like it going back to Pop Warner. "Completely disrespectful."

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen further reported that Davis changed into his street clothes and left the stadium at halftime, backing Alexander’s version of events.
Word is Vontae Davis put on his street clothes at half, said he was quitting and left the stadium, per another source https://t.co/spdxMWrNSd

It’s safe to say this would be unprecedented. The Bills were down 28-6 at the time, so some frustrations may well have boiled over, but this goes above and beyond mere frustration.
The 30-year-old veteran was in his first season with Buffalo, having signed in February. He seemed excited to join the team at the time, but after two awful performances, maybe he was fed up. We’ll have to see what happens in the days to come.
