Brandon Spikes wanted to fuel Santa with cocaine and Jack Daniel’s

New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes must create a major headache for Bill Belichick off the field. As we all know, Belichick strives to get his players to stay out of the spotlight and avoid saying dumb things that are going to create headlines and serve as a potential distraction. Spikes’ Twitter account is a threat to Belichick’s policy.

On Christmas Eve, the former Florida Gator gave us another perfect example of why Belichick would probably like him to delete his Twitter account when he tweeted this gem:

This is the same Spikes who used colorful language to blast the replacement officials earlier in the season and wrote that he was having suicidal thoughts after the Super Bowl last season. After a number of followers ripped him for saying he was going to feed coke and Jack Daniel’s to Santa Claus, Spikes justified his tweet with the following:

Obviously, Spikes was making a joke. Whether or not it was a good one is open to interpretation. If you subscribe to the theory that NFL players should act as role models whenever possible, you probably thought the tweet was in poor taste. After all, most parents wouldn’t think that allowing their children to follow an NFL linebacker on Twitter is the equivalent of letting them watch Richard Pryor on HBO.
