Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is prepared to suffer through a potential 0-16 season while holding firm to the decisions he’s made.
Haslam, wife Dee, and most of the Browns’ leadership – including coach Hue Jackson – recently spoke at a staff meeting for all team employees designed to boost morale, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. In the meeting, Haslam blamed previous regimes, some of his own hires, and bad drafts on the Browns’ recent predicament.
Perhaps more importantly, Haslam strongly felt that the organization has the right people in place to turn things around and stressed continuity, feeling that his repeated changes in past years did not help.
That would indicate coach Jackson’s job is safe. Given it’s his first year, that’s not a big surprise. Frankly, the guy is suffering so much, he deserves the chance to turn things around.
