Steve Wilks failed to live up to expectations in his first season as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, and he will not be given an opportunity to turn things around.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Wilks has informed his staff that he will no longer be the coach of the team going forward.
Sources: #AZCardinals coach Steve Wilks has told his staff during a meeting that he will not be the coach going forward. He has not yet heard it official from owner Michael Bidwill. But that is what he has told his staff.

It had been widely reported that Wilks would be fired at the end of the season, so the move is not a surprise. The Cardinals may not have been expected to reach the playoffs in Wilks’ first year, but they managed just three wins. While veteran players have been supportive of the coach keeping his job, management obviously wants to go in another direction.
The Cardinals have apparently already made an offer to one head coaching candidate, but it does not sound like it is going to be accepted.
