Could we be looking at the third starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in a month?
Connor Shaw, a rookie from South Carolina, will get starter’s reps in practice this week with both Johnny Manziel and Brian Hoyer banged up, Jeremy Fowler reports. Shaw was an unsigned free agent and has been on the practice squad all year.
Manziel is out next week because of the hamstring injury he suffered against the Panthers on Sunday. Hoyer is dealing with a shoulder injury suffered on Sunday against the Panthers.
Fowler also reports that the Browns might sign another free agent quarterback for the final week of the season.
Hoyer has not yet been ruled out for this weekend’s game, but it sounds like that is a possibility.
The Browns are now 7-8 after losing four in a row. They are at Baltimore in Week 17. Their quarterbacks have thrown for just one touchdown and 10 interceptions in the last five games.
