Report: Cowboys, Ezekiel Elliott have made some progress on contract talks
There appears to be guarded optimism regarding contract talks between Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas Cowboys.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the two sides have made some progress in the last 24 hours, though “many obstacles remain” as the two sides seek to work out a deal before the start of the regular season.
The #Cowboys and RB Zeke Elliott have made progress on a new contract extension over the last 24 hours, sources say. They aren’t there yet, and many obstacles remain. But there is some optimism.

Elliott skipped preseason in the hopes of landing a new deal to bring him closer to fair market value for top running backs.
It seems clear that the sides are closer, though how much closer is the key question. Talks were said to be intensifying on Saturday, and there appears to be an eagerness on the part of both the team and the player to get the deal done before the weekend is out. Still, that can be easier said than done.
The Cowboys are due to face the New York Giants next Sunday. Any deal would have to be done before then to give Elliott any chance of featuring.
