DK Metcalf reveals his reaction to Russell Wilson trade
DK Metcalf is perhaps the most prominent player left on the Seattle Seahawks’ roster following the team’s offseason overhaul. The wide receiver admitted the changes have left him in shock. Specifically, the trade of Russell Wilson stunned him.
Despite all the rumors surrounding quarterback Wilson, Metcalf admitted during an interview with Kevin Garnett that he was “in shock” upon learning of the Wilson trade. Metcalf added that he “didn’t think [the trade] was going to happen” and “never thought [Wilson] was going to leave Seattle.”

“My mind was like, alright, Russ is gone. What do I do?” Metcalf told Kevin Garnett in an episode of “KG Certified.” “Later that night, Bobby (Wagner) gets cut. And me and Bobby were…that was my guy. When he left, that hurt.
“I just finished year three, going into year four, and I think it’s time for me to step up and be a leader. It’s my time in Seattle now. That’s the way I look at it.”
Metcalf has only been in the NFL for three season. Despite that, he is the steady veteran for Seattle. In a certain sense, he is already stepping into a leadership role by demonstrating his commitment to the Seahawks.
Expect the Seahawks to build around Metcalf as it moves on from the Wilson era.
