Doug Baldwin, Seahawks players asking for No. 24 to not be issued to new teammates
Marshawn Lynch may be retired, but he’s not forgotten in Seattle.
With an influx of new additions in the draft and free agency, Doug Baldwin sent a tweet on behalf of the team requesting that Lynch’s No. 24 not be issued to any of the newcomers.
Dear @PeteCarroll,
We are thrilled with the new teammates. One condition. Nobody wears #24 for years to come.Sincerely,
The Players— Doug Baldwin Jr (@DougBaldwinJr) April 30, 2016
It’s a pretty nice gesture from the Seahawks players. Lynch became pretty much synonymous with the best era in franchise history, and they seem very aware of his importance. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Seattle honors him with a full-blown jersey retirement eventually.
Of course, perhaps there’s another reason the players want to keep Lynch’s number free.
