Drew Brees believes he could play seven more seasons
Drew Brees is entering the final guaranteed year of his contract, and he will turn 39 shortly after the season ends. But like Tom Brady, the old man insists he is not giving retirement a thought.
In an appearance on Sirius XM NFL Radio Friday, Brees said his body feels good enough that he believes he can play until age 45.
#Saints QB Drew Brees on retirement: Taking it one year at a time, but I feel like I can play until I'm 45. It's a huge investment though

While he didn’t win a Super Bowl like Brady, Brees managed to throw for 5,208 yards and 37 touchdown passes last season — his highest totals in three years. He also posted an impressive passer rating of 101.7. As long as he can stay healthy, there’s no reason to believe Brees can’t play at a high level for a few more years.
Brees said he would be fine with the Saints drafting a quarterback next month, but he has no intention of giving up his job anytime soon.
Drew Brees On if #Saints draft a QB: I trust our Org. they'll do what's best, but this my team, I'm the QB. My mindset doesn't change

The comments Brees made about his future last month are probably a bit more reasonable, though we are learning that 40 may not be a death sentence for an NFL quarterback.
