Golden Tate: Jim Schwartz being carried off field was a ‘douche move’
Former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz, who is now the defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, was carried off the field “Rudy” style on Sunday after beating his former team at Ford Field. It was later revealed that Schwartz told his players in training camp that he wanted to be carried off after beating the Lions in Week 5. Golden Tate felt the move was classless.
During an appearance on 105.1 WMGC-FM on Tuesday, Tate blasted Schwartz and the Lions.
“It’s a terrible gesture. It was planned? That’s a total douche move,” Tate said, via Tom Leyden of WXYT. “It’s something that doesn’t go unnoticed … It’s in the past. Hopefully they feel good about the Rudy moment that they had.
“I thought it was so disrespectful. … If I knew I wasn’t gonna get fined, I would have snatched him right down off the shoulders and threw him on the ground, personally — but, you know, obviously, I couldn’t do that. But, you know, if that’s what they feel like that was the right thing to do, then so be it.”

Tate was with the Seattle Seahawks last season, so he has no real history with Schwartz. To be honest, I kind of agree with him. Schwartz may have had a sarcastic smile on his face while his players carried him off the field, but the fact that he is Buffalo’s D-coordinator — not even the head coach — made the triumphant exit incredibly lame.
